upcoming trips

Mission trips will be added to this page as soon as they are announced. Each of our short-term trips is specifically designed to meet the strategic needs of the church with whom we partner. We typically take trips to Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Berlin, (and even a trip to Minneapolis!) —along with many other locations—throughout the year.

Check back frequently to see what new trips have been added. Although most short term mission trips are organized at a particular Evergreen location, it does not mean that the trip is offered exclusively to that location. Mission trips held by Evergreen Community Church is open to all five church locations unless otherwise stated.

Minneapolis, Minnesota (mission to the city)

June 13th-22nd & July 18th-27th, 2008

COST: The fee is $350 per person and $250 for each additional family member. Most meals are included. Participants are eligable to raise tax-deductible funds to support their mission trip.

ACTIVITIES: Set in a variety of areas in the city, we sponsor and carry out an array of community based service and kindness projects designed to demonstrate the love of God in practical ways, break down negative stereotypes about church and engage people in conversations about Christ. Activities include events for children, neighborhood carnivals and picnics, engaging with immigrants, and encouraging those who are struggling to recover from substance abuse. We partner with many other organizations and churches committed to meeting spiritual and physical needs in the city. The trips provide opportunity for you to learn from gifted teachers that are passionate about God and the city. You’ll learn to appreciate the challenges and joys of city life through activities like our poverty simulation and our spiritual tour of the city. There is also plenty of opportunity to spend extended time with God on your own.

bloomington, minnesota (mission to bloomington)

August 1-10, 2008

COST: A fee will be assessed to cover the cost of meals we provide plus to offset the cost of materials used during the mission trip. Participants are eligible to raise tax-deductible funds to support their trip.

ACTIVITIES: We will meet practical needs of people in Bloomington. We will demonstrate God’s love for people, break down negative stereotypes about church and Christians, and engage people in conversations about God. Participants will be trained to share their faith before the mission trip begins. Each day during the mission trip participants will spend personal time with God, engage in prayer with the team, and hear an inspiring message from one of our pastors. And, of course, each day will be filled with projects intended to meet needs in our community.
